A Letter To Myself On My Wedding Day.

27 Aug

Dear Sophie,

You look beautiful. I hope that despite not being one of those people that always knew how they wanted their wedding to be since they were a little girl, you still managed to pull it together somehow and it is as magical as it can be.

I hope that you managed to talk Will in to giving you away. I always thought that it was the sort of task that he would be embarassed by, but if your Dad couldn’t be there, then he was surely the next best thing.

Enjoy your day. You are surrounded by your best friends and closest family and about to send your life with somebody very special – what could be better? Try not to dwell on who isn’t there and focus on this wonderful new start.Lastly,

don’t cry – now is not time time to start being all emotional, and today is almost certainly the most expensive make-up job you have ever had!

Be happy,

A much younger and very single Sophie!

iPhone Dilemma.

23 Aug

Hey Everyone! How are you all? I feel a bit funny writing this before I leave and scheduling it to be posted today, but I miss all your news! And will inevitably be behind on reading your blog posts too, so sorry about that!

Anyway, that time has come again and my phone is due for an upgrade. I always get so excited about this over the last 4months of so of my contract but it’s actually a nightmare deciding what to do!

For the past 2 years I have had a blackberry, and I love everything about it, except for the poor memory space, but I have never put a memory card in it. My choices now are basically upgrade my blackberry of get an iPhone.

Until recently i thought the decision would be easy, I was 100% teamBB and had already half decided which model I wanted to get next, but then I got an iPad. When iPads were first released in to the market I thought they were a ridiculous idea and essentialy just a ‘glorified iPod touch’, but now I serously couldn’t live without mine – which makes me think that maybe I’d feel the same about an iPhone?

I guess I’m just a little concerned that in a world where social media and mobile phones are so prominent I could become even more addicted to my phone and it could damage my actual relationships with my real friends. I am already one of those awful people who just has to keep her phone on the table when you go out for drinks (apparantly this is the height of bad manners) and I feel like another blackberry would at least limit my media addictions!

Tell me – what phone do you have? Have you had a BB in the past? Help me please!

I know this isn’t really relevant, but it made me giggle when I was looking for an appropriate picture!

I really hope you’re all well and having a fantastic week 🙂

I Want To Write A Book.

20 Aug

Before I left on my travels, I was struggling to come up with enough post ideas to fill 3 weeks of blog space up, so I thought it was about time to share a secret with you. Well, it’s on my 101 in 1,001 list so possibly not too much of a secret depending on how much stalking you’ve been doing 😉

I want to write a book. I always have done – just been struggling to come up with an idea, until now.

I don’t want to say too much really, but over the past year I have been compiling stories of my day-to-day life at school, noting down interactions with students and funny happenings. Whenever I’m ranting on about the latest injustice or laughing about a breakdown in communication or language mix up, my friends always tell me that I should write a book – maybe this is how I will make my millions?!!

Have you ever written anything? Or thought about it? What do you dream of doing to make your millions?

Slowly ticking off more new cities and seeing some amazing new things. We’re arriving in Italy this weekend – and will hopefully be visiting some family friends in Milan, and heading down to Rome. I can only hope that it doesn’t end up like that scene from Eurotrip!!

Happy Birthday Dad.

15 Aug

Today would have been my Dad’s 60th birthday.

Unfortunately being in a hostel in the middle of Europe makes it a little more difficult to get hold of photos – so you’ll have to imagine me as a very cute child following my father around like a lovesick puppy!

I hope wherever you are you’re enjoying the celebrations Daddy. I’ll have a cocktail for you.

Still thinking of you every single day.

Lots of love,

Your baby girl ❤

We have arrived in Athens and it is BOILING! Seriously, I’m not sure I’ve ever been anywhere this hot before – it’s ridiculous!

We have visited The Acropolis and seen the sights but I will fill you in on all then when I get home. Just checking in to let you know I’m alive!

Tomorrow marks the starting the nightmare journey to Split in Croatia. Split is one of those places that I have wanted to visit ever since I spent a few weeks in Europe in 2009, but I am not at all excited about it taking about 36 hours to get there!!

Backpack Through Europe.

8 Aug

This has been on my Bucket List ever since I got back from Europe a few years ago. It had been some of the best weeks if my life and I couldn’t wait to do it all over again – only my bank balance had other ideas.

But tomorrow is the day! Tomorrow I will be flying out to Greece to start what I am affectionately calling Eurotrip 2012, and I couldn’t be more excited.

It has been a hectic few days of printing tickets, buying travel insurance and ammending packing lists, but I am just about ready. Bring it on!

I have written a few posts and scheduled them for over the next few weeks, and will try to keep you updated as and when I can. Until then, keep in touch, happy blogging and have a great few weeks.
