Today, I need that motivation to get my behind to the gym.



Last Week.

8 Feb

Wowzer, it’s been another busy week at school. Students are getting that ‘nearly the holidays’ feeling and are starting to cause problems – lying, suspensions, fighting. Nightmare!

The other night I was helping an Israeli boy with his prep though, and he told me that I was going to make a great teacher. It’s the little things like that that get me through the day!

And today I have been offered the chance to stay on next year should I wish to do so, which is a huge relief because between you and me I was starting to freak out a little!

Night off tonight, so time for some supper, hit the gym, and then settle down wth my book for an early night. I’m reading ‘One Day’ at the moment – has anyone read it? I love it, but it is taking me months (literally!) to get through because I’m always too tired to read in the evening (sadface!)

Monday Musings.

How was your weekend my lovelies? I hope you had lots of R&R time like me – I finally feel like I’ve caught up on all the sleep that I missed out on over the last month at school!

Just a few little updates for you today…

I still haven’t finished my pgce application, and quite frankly it is stressing me right out! I am having a nightmare getting the information I need about GCSE exam boards (the lady that I spoke too kept telling me how important it was to keep my certificates safe – she’s clearly never moved house!)

If you’ve been reading threetimesf for a long time you’ll know that before I started my job in Taunton, I used to attend a Slimming World group. Well, last week I went back for the fist time in 2 months to get weighed. To say I was dreading it would be an understatement – I have been eating, drinking and not running for the last half term, but I have only gained 1lb! Can I get a woop woop?! We’ve also made a little pact at school to hit the gym and healthy eating hard after the holidays, so hopefully I will soon be back on track.

I have a date to go and see fieworks and The Wurzels on Saturday night – how insane is that?!!

I am currently reading James Corden’s autobiography ‘May I have your attention please?’ – that man is hilarious. I highly recommend it.

Two For Tuesday.

Two workouts, that is. On Tuesdays we take ‘activity’ sessions after school – I do an hour of Basketball with some of the boys.


Then straight to the gym for a quick session. I decided to go for some rolling intervals on the treadmill (I know what you’re thinking – I thought this was very technical for me too!)

5 mins warm up – speed 6

4 mins – speed 8

3 mins – speed 8.5

2 mins – speed 9

1 min – speed 9.5

30 secs – speed 10

1 min – speed 9.5

2 mins – speed 9

3 mins – speed 8.5

4 mins – speed 8

5 mins cool down – speed 6

Total – 29.30mins and 3.75k

To begin with I thought I had set the paces at too slow of a pace, but later on I realised that I was working hard and I was actually really proud of myself for running for 20 straight minutes – I can’t remember the last time that happenned as I am normally a big fan of the run/walk method!

It was good to feel like I was really pushing myself again – I know I have been slacking on my workouts lately, but I am getting back in the zone.

Food & Fitness…That Is What The Blog’s Called After All!

Hey, check me out posting 2 days in a row?! Haven’t felt this in a while – maybe I’m starting to settle in to a routine?!

You may or may not have noticed (I was a little embarassed and hence didn’t draw attention to it on the blog..)  that once I started this new job I stopped posting about food and exercise (read: I was eating badly and sitting on my bum a lot of the time).

Well, I have been making a real effort to sort that out as of late.

Lots of salad and healthier (as healthy as they can be when you’re eating school dinners 24/7) choices appearing on my plate, and I have been making a real effort to get some regular workouts in.

Yesterday I played badminton and taught a Tag Rugby session (love that game!). Today I have been to the gym. Tomorrow I have a gym date. Things are finally starting to fall in to place and I am glad. Although I weighed myself at the weekend and I haven’t gained (or lost) and weight, I was starting to feel a little lethargic and tired.

Once the food and exercise is back on track, the next challenge would be to get a little more sleep!

How do you manage to fit your workouts in to a hectic schedule?

If you followed me on twitter you’d know that I am too tired to blog tonight.

However, I will just say that I did another hour in the gym today….and then smashed an Indian takeaway.


Back On The Bandwagon.

Back to the gym today. 20 mins on the bike, 10 mins on cross trainer, and 20 mins on the dreadmill. Throw in a few stretches and I’m feeling pretty well worked out! It’s been a while so I’m just hoping that I’ll still be feeling good tomorrow!

Life is good – school is busy but not too busy. I am getting my head down in a few projects, and getting to know a few of the kids much better. It surprises me that I can have a ‘real’ conversation with a 16 year old. I know it probably shouldn’t but I just haven’t been around anyone that age for such a long time…

My Mum and Bro are all safely moved in to the new place and are settling in well. Apparantly Maisie is even starting to come round to life as a city dog! They are coming to visit me on Sunday which is exciting – it’s only been a few weeks but I miss those guys!

Now I have a night of bloglovin’ and email catch up planned 😀
