The Book Chat

3 May

Every week I read this link up from Sweet Green Tangerine, and mean to take part, and I just never get round to writing my posts 😦 (fun fact – this is my first link up EVER!)

This week’s prompt is your favourite holiday reads.

I love to read on holiday. The type of book I’m after all depends on whether I’m going away somewhere, or just taking a few days off to chill out at home. If the latter is the case, then I love a series – at the moment I’m completely addicted to The Hunger Games and would absolutely swallow it up if I had a few consecutive completely free days.

If I’m going away somewhere, I want a book that keeps me amused and I enjoy, but doesn’t take much brain power. Think chick lit. Think Harry Potter. Think re-reading your favourite books. I like something that I can dip in and out of on the plane, something that I can easily read in my tired and slightly hungover haze, and something that I can swap with my girlfriends.

My absolute favourite holiday read is the Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. Funny, well written and so more-ish!

What are your holiday recommendations?

First. So glad you linked up with us this week!!
I have never read the shopaholic series but I basically pick my vacation reads by the same criteria. Easy to read, fun story, not too much brain required. LOL
I’m jealous that you are getting to enjoy the Hunger Games for the first time. I read them a couple years ago & they are just so addicting! If you’re looking for something similar, try The Maze Runner by James Dashner. 🙂
    Thanks for linking up!

To be honest, I’d never heard of THG before the film came out and all my friends are only just reading them – I guess it’s a different situation in the UK! I’ll be sure to check out The Maze Runner though, thanks for the recommendation!
I love the link up – hopefully I’ll be back – thanks for having me! 🙂

I’ve never read any of these books but I’ve heard great things about them… I might have to check them out 🙂

Aw yay, I’m so happy you linked up too! I love the Book Chat. YES MAZE RUNNER! I actually convinced Jessica to read them, I love that she’s recommending them too now, hehe 😉
