Honesty Is The Best Policy.

30 Jul

I’m going to be straight with you here – I sometimes hide the truth about my workouts and eating habits from TTF. There, I said it.

Recently, I have been eating far too much cake, drinking far too much wine, and lounging around on the sun far too much when I should be exercising. My C25K efforts have pretty much disappeared, and I am quickly falling back in to the trap of thinking that playing a leisurely game of badminton at the weekend will fulfil my exercise requirements for the week.

It’s not that I don’t want to make the effort, and I don’t want to lose a few pounds and get a bit fitter again. Trust me, I really really do. I’m just struggling to find the willpower. I know that that piece of cake on the staffroom table won’t make me feel much better, and I probably won’t even enjoy it that much, but I am constantly tricking myself in to thinking that ‘just one slice won’t hurt’. Maybe one slice wouldn’t, but 20 of those ‘a little bit doesn’t matter’ moments certainly do add up, and they do matter.

So I need your help! Please hassle me, please question me about why I haven’t been working out, and please help motivate me to get out of this slump. I am determined to get 4x45minute sessions in this week – that used to be normal for me so I know it’s do-able.

In 2 weeks time I am going away and will be trawling around European cities all day every day. At the moment I’m tired just thinking about all that walking, and I don’t want my trip to be ruined in any way because I couldn’t be bothered to walk across town. I know 2 weeks won’t make that much difference, but it’s all about attitude, and every little helps right?!

Let’s do this.

How do you motivate yourself when all you want to do is sit in the sun and eat that last slice of cake?

Sophie.

PS – Those of you that follow me on twitter will know that I didn’t win the euromillions the other day – sadface 😦

Gym Pact.

1 Nov

It’s that time of year again.

The clocks have changed (boo), the evenings are darker and there is a lot of rain 😦

I can’t be the only one that finds it difficult to find the motivation to get out there and run or attend an exercise class at this time of year? (I’m imagining your nods and ‘mmmmms’ of areement!)

So, I have made a pact with myself and my friends at school. Gym (or alternative) at least 3 times a week. And no more of this kidding myself that a pe lesson counts as a workout, because last time I checked, standing around blowing a whistle and shouting at kids didn’t work up a sweat.

So let’s do this – I am determined that this will be the first winter that my fitness levels do not slip!

Wish me luck! 🙂

How do you manage to get your workouts in at this time of year? How do you stay motivated?

My Motivation For Starting.

14 Jun

I often come across posts on other blogs about the blogger’s motivation to start, and more importantly carry on with, their weight loss journeys.

Some people have a seperate motivation & goals page whilst others list reasons on their ‘About Me’ page.

When I first started blogging, I posted a quick story explaining how I got to where I am today and what I am doing about it, but I never thoroughly listed my reasons to lose weight so here goes! (Deep breath in!)

* I’m sick of being the fat friend. Especially at Univeristy, I lived with 2 other beautiful, slim girls.

We had a blast living together, but a) they always received all the male attention, and b) I always felt slightly inferior to them. Now generally, I am a pretty confident person, and I know that male attention isn’t everything – but it’d be nice to get some every now and then, you know?!

* Bikini season is looming! Getting naked on the beach is difficult enough without  worrying about the extra pounds that I am currently carrying!

* I want to be fitter! My friends an I run (no pun intended!) in circles where we lead very active lives and spend a lot of ‘outdoor time’ together! I want to be able to get fully involved in grown up play time! In addition to this, I dream of running a half marathon (maybe even a full one :O ), but seriously think that if I attempted even running 5k at this point in time I may die?!

* Finally, I love the extra energythat exercising and fuelling my body with the right foods provides me with, and I don’t ever ever want to lose that!

So there you have it!

Sometimes I lose sight of these long-term goals (normally when I gain sight of a chocolate cake!) but they are always there, deep down.

What motivates you to eat right and exercise? How did you get started?

Sophie.
