Bon Voyage Me!

7 Oct

Hello lovelies πŸ™‚

I hope you’re all (those of you that stuck around with me this long!) very very well. I may not have been writing, but rest assured I have still been reading up on your lives! Anyway, my big Indonesian adventure starts this week, and I would be honoured if you hopped over to my new blog and kept up to date with adventures.

Have a great Monday – don’t forget to awesome πŸ™‚

Game Changer.

5 Sep

Wow, it’s been a LONG time since I was here! I’ve missed my little corner of the blogosphere, but the last few months have literally flown by in a big rush of courses and lesson planning and job leaving festivities!

Now for the big one…I’m moving to Indonesia! I have a job teaching English in Jakarta and will be leaving at the end of the month. I’ve had a few problems processing my visa (stupid immigration) but it seems it has been granted today so I am thrilled to share the news with you all! πŸ™‚ I’m feeling very apprehensive about being away from home for such a long time, but I have been really miserable for the past week when I wasn’t sure if my visa would be granted and whether I’d be able to go at all, so deep down I’m taking that as a sign that it is meant to be, and the excitement is starting to set in! Have any of you ever visited Java (or nearby)? Any advice greatly appreciated, I am going in a little blind here!

I hope I’ll be able to write a little more now, seeing as I am temporarily unemployed and have A LOT of free time on my hands, but I am also trying to come up with a name (to either change this, or start a new blog) when I start travelling, so please put your minds to work on that one too!

Anyway, I have still been reading blogs recently, but still, it’s been a while so what have I missed?!

Busy Bee

19 May

Hi guys,

Wow, I’m still so busy! Half term next week really cannot come soon enough – I have a few days scheduled in with my bff and a trip to see a psychic!

Until then it’s work work work, and run run run, then finally sleep sleep sleep!

I have enjoyed a few days away this weekend to see my little brother in his final ever Drama School performance! I know I sound old and like your great aunt, but seriously, where has the time gone? My ‘little’ brother is now 21 and about to make his own way in the world, and whatever happens I couldn’t be more proud of him πŸ™‚ Photos to follow later this week.

One more week, let’s do this.

How have you all been?

Currently:

10 May

Feeling: That I have been away from the blogosphere and you lovely people for far too long and that this would be a good way to catch up!

Wanting: Some time off! through covering shifts for friends and all my own days, I have inadvertently found myself in the middle of a massive 5 week stint with only 2 days off 😦 Not cool!

Reading: ‘Teaching English in a foreign land’ and ‘Do Life’ – both great reads for a little motivation in my life at the moment.

Listening to: New favourite tune – Passenger – Let her go

Eating: Nothing at this very second, but I have been trying much harder to eat more healthily this week – and have been mostly successful. Lots of strawberries, nom nom nom.

Working on: A lot of TEFL work. I’m doing this pretty cool project which involves working with one of my favourite students from last year and devising a scheme of work for him to improve his English. I’m really enjoying it because it’s caused him to tell me lots of things that I’d just never thought about asking before.

Dreaming about: A sunnier, less stressful place! I spend pretty much every free minute reading travel blogs or looking for potential jobs in sunny places!

Missing: My friends from university. I finished my final year exams 3 years ago today, and the time has flown by. Big reunion needed!

What is going on in your life currently?

An ex-student told me today that he preferred Hakuna Matata to YOLO and that was the attitude that he was taking towards life.

Love my job.

10K, consider yourself well and truly signed up for.

10 weeks to get fit.

Let’s do this.

A Letter To My CV

4 May

Dear CV

Could you please just re-write yourself and email yourself and apply for lots of fun jobs that you think I might enjoy yourself please? I’m bored of all this grown up malarky.

Cool, thanks.

Happy Birthday TTF!

29 Apr

I can’t believe this little blog has been going for 2 whole years now!

It (and I) have changed a lot over this time, but the one constant is that it is a place for me to make friends and share my daily life.

Thank you for reading, I hope you continue to enjoy our journey and here’s to another great year!

Now don’t get me wrong, I love love love my digital camera (I’m even thinking about getting something more advanced) but don’t you miss the days of only having a certain amount of photos, not being able to see themfor a few weeks and the anticipation of picking up your latest snaps from the shop?

I remember when I was about 17, I was more than a little obsessed with a guy that I worked with. We spent New Year’s Eve together with a few of my friends and they took a few pictures of us together – only a few mind, those films were expensive! When we returned to school a few days later I was desperate to see those pics – so much so that I even made a friend run in to town over lunchtime and pay the hightest cost to get them developed in just an hour!

I don’t know what made me think of this, just that with the advances in modern technology all of these little pleasures and moments of anticipation are getting replaced by instant gratification in one form or another. Will there be any simple enjoyment left for our children and the next generation? The sort of pleasure you get from a new computer or pair of shoes that you haven’t been saving for for months just doesn’t seem the same….

A Letter To My University Friends.

22 Apr

Hey guys

Something’s been bugging me lately – the fact that lots of big things are happening in all of our lives and that we seem to be losing touch. One of you just had a baby, one of you just hit your first wedding anniversary, one of you is getting married this summer and I found out about it on facebook!!

Remember this night?

uni friends

We thought that we’d be friends for ever, still talking everyday and involved in every little part of each other’s lives.

I miss that. I know everyone is busy (trust me, I am too!) but I still want texts about silly things that have happened and emails with updates on the big details. What happened to us?

Right here, right now, I pledge to change this and get our little family back on trackΒ  – join me?

An ever loving and always at the end of the phone,

Sophie x
